5 Non-Traditional Valentine’s Day Makeup Looks You’ll Fall in Love With
When you think of traditional Valentine’s Day makeup, bright red lipstick, pink eyeshadow and lots of glitter likely come to mind. And don’t get us wrong, we’re all about this look, but we understand if you’re looking for more subtle, softer Valentine’s Day makeup this year. That’s why we put together a list of makeup looks that are festive, but aren’t so overwhelmingly bright. Keep scrolling for some stunning V-Day makeup inspo.

Soft Glitter Vibes

With this look, @carolrmakeup proves that glitter can be subtle and wearable for any occasion. To get it, apply a sliver shadow of your choice all over your eyelids. Top if off with a pink eyeshadow on the crease and on your top lash line to create a subtle smoked out wing.

Pink Smokey Eyes

If you’re into an edgy V-Day vibe, this look is everything. We love how @claudianeacsu combined pale pink and burgundy tones to create a soft yet statement-making smokey eye. Pair the eyes with a nude glossy lip to balance out the darker tones. We love the Maybelline New York Lip Lifter Gloss in Amber for this.

Pink and Gold Graphic Eye

Admittedly, a graphic eyeliner look isn’t exactly subtle, but the holiday is the perfect time to try this fun look. Plus, it can be toned up or down depending on your preferences. For example, instead of using a stark black eyeliner, you can choose a subtle gold eyeliner, like @ohitsbreee, and fill in the empty space on your eyelid with a soft, pinky nude.

Soft Golden Glam

You can totally skip the pink and red tones all together this Valentine’s Day and opt for a soft, golden glam, like @danareneemakeup did. It’s versatile, flattering on all skin tones and the perfect look for a special date night — be it with friends or with someone special.

Keep It Classic

Valentine’s Day without a red lip seems criminal, so of course we had to include one look with it. The trick to keeping things less overwhelming, though, is to keep the eyes completely bare of shadow and apply a couple coats of volumizing mascara, like the L’Oréal Paris Air Volume Mega Mascara. The final look gives us major model off-duty vibes.
