ag TWS09R Review

ag TWS09R main

Most true wireless earbuds you see sit within a certain price range. There are a few that are low-cost, but their quality can wane depending on the brand and it might be more worth saving up for a better pair. I’ve never heard of this brand before, but they have the Final Audio name attached to them, and that gives it some merit. The TWS09R are Bluetooth earbuds that only cost $99. Let’s see what camp they fall into.

What You Get

  • TWS09R Earbuds
  • Charging Case
  • USB-C Charging Cable
  • User Manual
  • final Type E Clear Ear tips for TWS – 3 sizes

Look & Feel

The TWS09R are some of the smallest true wireless earbuds you can get, from the ear pieces themselves to their charging case. These buds are very easy to wear and they come in a few different color variations. You can barely notice them when worn for multiple hours, which is all you can really ask for for the price.

Design & Functionality

Nothing about the driver on these earbuds is very notable, except the fact that its sound signature was tuned by Final Audio. This should clue you in on the kind of sound clarity these earbuds could potentially offer compared to most earbuds in this price range. There is no noise-canceling, and there is no app you can download that will let you access any extra features like EQ.

Bluetooth

The TWS09R uses a Qualcomm QCC3040 chipset that offers a stable Bluetooth 5.2 connection. It has fast pairing, and uses common CODECs in addition to aptX.

Battery Life

You should be able to get at least five hours from a single charge out of the case. The charging case should add up to 20 hours of playtime before needing to recharge. This is acceptable for the price but still only just average.

Soundstage

You can’t find too much to criticize about how the TWS09R presents its soundstage and imaging. For the price, the TWS09R will give your tracks plenty of width. The range between the two channels feels both dynamic and balanced, distinguishing instruments with a decent amount of space. Its spatial properties are just pronounced enough to be immersive, even with standard stereo sensibilities. Everything is mostly linear, but its wingspan is significant enough to entice you into its space.

Low End

This is exactly the kind of bass you want for this price. The tone reminds me of JBL’s budget earbuds, but the response is a lot more balanced. They have a similar richness, but the low frequency content has more consistent clarity and organization. The mid-bass and sub-bass are more properly stacked on to each other, and you can feel the range of instruments more clearly. It helps provide a fuller timbre while also adhering to a surprising amount of dynamic range.

Mids

There are areas of the midrange that come through with impressive clarity for the price. Most of fundamental mids are recessed, but it doesn’t make the frequency response come across as hollow at all. There’s decent texture provided by the low-mids and upper-mids being slightly elevated enough to make a difference. Most earbuds in this price range completely fall apart here, but thankfully the TWS09R is fairly competent with giving instruments and vocals room. Some sound elements do sound underpowered though, and the frequencies aren’t as organized as they are in the lows.

Highs

Most of the treble comes across as muted, especially in the higher frequencies. It’s a smooth timbre that’s easy to enjoy, but I felt like I was missing out on a little too much to properly engage with the sound signature. There’s a fair surface to the high frequencies, but their content is buried in the mix and get dominated easily. Some nice height is shown, but it isn’t enough to fully grasp any significant detail.

Summary

If you don’t mind missing out on some of the features that other true wireless earbuds give you, like ANC, and EQ, then the TWS09R are a solid pair for those on a budget. Those just looking for a pair of Bluetooth earbuds to casually listen to music with will find a lot to like about the TWS09R. Its soundstage and bass response are solid for the price, and those aspects might be all you’re looking for in the first place.
